Al Pease was a racing driver who competed in numerous races throughout his career. He was born on March 11, 1927, in Darlington, England. Pease started his racing career in the 1950s, and he competed in various racing categories, including sports car racing, Formula 5000, and Formula One.
In 1969, Pease participated in the Canadian Grand Prix. He was driving a privately owned Mclaren M7C car, which was not in excellent condition. During the race, Pease broke several rules, including failing to meet the minimum lap time and failing to keep his car on the track. Due to these violations, the race officials disqualified him from the race.
However, Pease continued to drive his car around the track. He thought that he had won the race, but instead, he was black-flagged, which signals a driver to stop their car immediately. Pease ignored the signal, and he continued to drive around the track for an additional two laps before stopping.
This incident led to significant criticism of Pease in the racing community. The Canadian Racing Drivers Association banned him from racing in their events, and he was suspended from racing in other races in Canada. Despite this disqualification, Al Pease continued to race in other competitions and remained an active racer until his retirement in the mid-1970s.
